Manifesto

“The womb he crawled from is still going strong”

Bertolt Brecht

Dear citizens! Intellectuals, artists and politicians all over the globe!

70 years passed since we defeated fascism together. Then, in 1945, at the cost of more than 60 million lives, the global community seemed to have permanently wiped out the black beast of fascism. However, the beast survived and is raising its head again. While in the USA and Europe a creeping rehabilitation of fascism is on its way promoting various extremist and fascist movements, the Middle East has already been plunged into war. Bands of fundamentalists serving the global financial oligarchy, with the approval and support of Western governments, put to death civilians and display the massacres live online.

In Ukraine, a coup d'etat was made by neo-Nazi proxies with a direct involvement of some figures from the USA, Germany, France and Poland. The coup was followed by punitive raids, mass political murders and genocide of civilians which receive comprehensive diplomatic, information and, since recently, military support from the West.

The most appalling act of genocide happened on the 2nd of May, 2014, in Odessa when neo-Nazis burnt alive more than 48 people in the Trade Union Building. The survivors of that tragedy have been imprisoned without charge or trial. Unfortunately, after one year none of the killers has been brought to justice.

Instead of giving an adequate judgment to the Ukrainian events or calling for an international investigation, the Western governments escalate their militarist rhetoric enjoying the tacit indifference and close-mindedness of their tamed media. A new Cold War has been launched. Europe and the world are coming close to the red line.

On the 2nd of May in Madrid, near the Center of Arts at the Queen Sofia Square (Centro de Arte Reina Sofia) a project “Intellectuals, Artists and Citizens against Fascism” started. The project was opened by a Spanish artist Cinabrio Quijano who right and the square created a painting devoted to the tragedy in Ukraine. Thus he initiated a collection of works of art that is going to include paintings, sculptures, pieces of writing and music. The exhibition is going to visit many European cities collecting further contributions and then will be given as a gift to the fighting Donbass.

The purpose of the project is to unite creative people of any nationality, age, ethnicity and religion to openly stand up against neo-fascism by means of culture and art.

We urge all progressive people in Europe to join the international project “Intellectuals, Artists and Citizens against Fascism” to show their civic position and contribute to our common sacred struggle against fascism!

The enemy will be stopped!
